Storm Damage Repairs and Replacement
Damaging storms hit the Midwest every year, bringing howling winds, stinging rain, and worst of all, hail. Depending on the type of material your roof is made of, signs of damage may vary. One thing all roofs have in common is metal accessories, such as vents and valleys. These are good starting points to check for hail and storm damage.
Our experienced roofers at Volta Roofing LLC can find any dents and dings in the metal areas of our roof, then get to work making repairs. If you need your entire roof replaced with a brand-new one, we can do that too!
Call (816) 601-0117 ASAP if you believe your roof was damaged by a storm. You can always count on Volta Roofing (previously known as Premier Roofing, Siding, Home Improvement), a roofing company our communities trust.
Signs of Storm Damage on Different Types of Roofs
- Asphalt - Hail damage can be recognized on asphalt shingles when there are missing granules. When hailstones are large enough to cause damage, granules are knocked off shingles entirely. Other obvious signs include shingles totally blown off your roof or cracked shingles.
- Metal - Hail damage to a metal roof will look the same as damage to the metal accessories mentioned above. Dings and dents in metal panels show that hail has left a mark on your metal roof, compromising the entire roofing system.
- Wood - Wood shake shingles can split when they are hit by large enough hailstones. Pea-sized hail rarely leaves enough damage but hailstones that are 3/4" or larger in diameter can certainly cause splits or punctures in a wooden shake shingle. Hail damage can also be spotted by a noticeable loss of moss or organic material that had grown on your shingles.
All About Insurance Claims on Storm Damage
Sometimes, hail damage to a roof is discovered a while after the storm has passed. Most insurance companies will allow a 12-month window from when the storm hits to file your claim. If you believe your roof has been compromised by a recent hailstorm and you need to file an insurance claim, contact Volta Roofing. We are your local roof repair insurance claim specialists.
INSURANCE FACTS YOUR SHOULD KNOW
The insurance industry has listed roofing as one of the most dangerous of professions. True roofing insurance that will cover roofing operations has become harder to obtain. A large portion of the roofing industry is either underinsured or not insured at all. If someone gets hurt on your property that is employed by one of these contractors, your assets could be at risk. You may be sued in a court of law! Remember to obtain a Certificate of Insurance. Make sure that the people on your property are insured for the work they are performing. A carpenter policy is not a roofing policy. Proper roofing insurance is expensive and mandatory. Lower priced contractors often are takin a gamble that most property owners, if informed, are not willing to allow. Contrary to popular belief, most owners' policies for not cover uninsured contractors. Volta Roofing will always supply insurance information prior to your agreement to proceed with any work on your property.
